Ottawa, CANADA - October 26, 2006 - Espial® IPTV, the leading provider of IPTV middleware and applications, today announced the addition of VP Marketing Brian Mahony to the Espial management team. Mr. Mahony is a 15-year veteran of the telecom industry, most recently with Netcentrex, and will lead Espial’s marketing and product management organizations.

Mr. Mahony’s experience at VoIP application server leader Netcentrex was marked by rapid growth. During his tenure, he saw the company grow from about $10M to more than $50M and helped the company promote its pioneering triple play and IMS strategies. Netcentrex was acquired by Comverse Technology Inc. for approximately $180M in June of 2006.

Prior to Netcentrex, Mr. Mahony’s roles included VP Marketing and Business Development at Tundo Corporation, Director of Business Development and Strategy at Unisphere (acquired by Siemens and Juniper Networks for $740M), and Business Development Manager at Nortel. His consulting experience includes management of strategic projects at satellite service provider Loral-Orion, wireless service provider Nextel, and internet network provider BBN/Genuity.

“I have seen the telecom market mature from analog to digital to IP-based technologies,” said Mahony. “In this era of fierce competition between different types of service providers, IPTV is proving to be the key weapon in the triple and quad play wars that are upon us. I am excited to join the number one IPTV middleware company in the world.”

Espial’s products are being deployed to over 500,000 IPTV subscribers and the company was recently named the #1 IPTV client middleware vendor by market research firm ABI Research.

With key customers such as NTT, Belgacom, OnCommand, LodgeNet, and partners including Siemens/Myrio, Motorola, Sumitomo, Tilgin, Amino, Dasan, Thomson, and Philips, Espial’s leadership in IPTV and consumer services spans over nine years. Over 2.5 million consumers have already experienced Espial technology, from hotel interactive TV and VOD services through OnCommand and LodgeNet, to interactive interfaces in BMW vehicles and Hitachi TVs, to leading deployments with Telcos in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

“Brian is a recognized voice in the IP communications industry,” said Espial CEO Jaison Dolvane. “His experience in the telecom industry is a crucial asset to Espial’s next phase of growth as we continue our leadership in the IPTV market.”

Espial’s Evo® IPTV service platform has been in high demand by carriers rolling out IPTV services. Evo’s turbo-fast performance, openness, and modularity have attracted service provider customers across the globe and driven Espial’s IPTV revenue growth to 100% annually over the past three years. Evo is the only IPTV platform available that allows operators to purchase best-of-breed components separately or as part of a pre-integrated middleware solution.

Mr. Mahony earned a bachelor degree in Philosophy from Boston College and an MBA in marketing and business strategy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a frequent speaker and writer on IP communications, IPTV, and next-generation services.
