OTTAWA, Canada - 12 April 2001: Espial, creators of software that powers the world of smart Internet devices, has announced a license agreement with Celerity Systems (OTC BB: CLRT) that integrates the Espial Escape‘ embedded Java browser into the Celerity T 6000 digital set top box. The Escape browser enables high-performance, user-friendly and effective Web navigation via a television set using an infrared remote control or optional keyboard.

Celerity is also incorporating Espial DeviceTop™, a service-enabled operating environment into its package, that enables the creation and management of customizable applications for users in private network environments such as schools, hospitals, assisted living facilities, corporate campuses and in the hotel and hospitality industries.

Celerity plans to incorporate future Escape enhancements and functionality into its emerging interactive TV offerings, as well as other Espial products such as Espial Ebox™, an email client for memory constrained devices, and Espial Assistant™, a customizable personal information manager.

The contract includes projected shipments of several hundred thousand units to the North American market, available May 2001
